What is Chin Augmentation?
Chin augmentation surgery (also known as genioplasty) is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the appearance of the chin and jawline by creating a more defined profile. Several aesthetic improvements can be performed to highlight your chin, and one of the most common procedures is using an implant to create a more prominent jawline and stronger profile. At his practice in Los Angeles, CA Dr. Husam Elias offers many options to consider for your chin augmentation. Along with implants, nonsurgical augmentations, like dermal fillers or KYBELLA®, could also help improve your chin. Contact Southern California Center for Surgical Arts to set up a consultation to learn more about achieving a more balanced look through chin augmentation.
Who is a Candidate for Chin Augmentation?
The best way to determine your candidacy for chin augmentation is during a consultation. Dr. Elias can perform a quick examination and review your medical history before making any recommendations. Most anyone considering improving their chin and jawline may be a candidate for surgery, but it is important to inform our team of any preexisting medical conditions that may complicate the procedure or impede healing. Our number one priority at all times is your safety and health.
How Is Chin Augmentation Performed?
For chin enhancement surgery, general anesthesia is typically used. To begin, Dr. Elias will make an incision just under your chin. In this incision, a pocket is created to keep the implant device in its proper position, which includes removing and shaving some of the tissue, cartilage, and bone to make grooves that will hold your implant in position. The chin implant is placed through the incision and positioned on top of the bone, below your lower lip. Sometimes, the incision can also be made inside the lip where it connects to your gumline. Small sutures are used to connect and close the incisions, and bandages will be used to wrap your lower face. You will have redness, swelling, and bruising after your surgery, but these effects should subside within a couple of weeks. During your recovery, you should follow all post-operative instructions provided by our team, including avoiding strenuous exercise.
Southern California Center for Surgical Arts Reviews
I took my daughter in for a consult regarding getting her wisdom teeth removed. Everyone was very nice and explained everything in detail. Dr. Pouya is very nice and explained the whole process to us from beginning to end. They were nice enough to schedule her surgery the following week since I wanted her to recover before she went back to school. I am very pleased with the whole office and how well the surgery went. I will definitely recommend Dr. Pouya to anyone needed their wisdom teeth removed.

Fantastic experience start to finish. I had Asian Rhinoplasty by Dr Elias and can not be happier. I love my nose so much, I get compliments from my friends about how cute and how it fits my face well.
I had Silicone breast implants by Dr Elias, I went from flat to fab in under an hour, I love my new addition:)I came to Dr Elias as referral from a friend of mine who had hers done by him a few years ago and they still looked fantastic, so I decided to follow him on IG to see his work, it didn’t take long before I booked a consultation with him. He was thorough, knowledgeable and reasonably priced compared to other places I consulted with in the past. I’m extremely happy with my results, post op care was great, he saw me so many times to check the healing of my surgery. I can’t say enough about my results. I love ’em..
My experience with this office was absolutely stellar. Firstly, the staff welcomes you warmly when you arrive. Diana (doctor’s assistant) met me in the exam room. Diana has a way of instantly making you feel comfortable and any nervousness you may be feeling is dissipated.... Because you can’t stop laughing. Then enters Dr. Elias.... He is extremely approachable, honest, and knowledgeable. It doesn’t hurt that he has multiple degrees. I am ecstatic that I found this business:

Chin Augmentation FAQs
Will augmentation fix my double chin?
A chin implant is designed to give your jawline a stronger, sharper look. If you want to correct a double chin, you might want to choose a liposuction procedure where the excess fat in your upper neck below the jawline (the submental area) can be addressed. Sometimes this technique alone can create a new jawline and appearance without needing to have an implant procedure. Dr. Elias will explain your options and his suggestions during your first appointment.
Can I combine other facial surgeries with chin augmentation?
Some patients get a chin implant with other facial surgeries, like cheek implants or nose reshaping surgery. Dr. Elias will help you decide the procedures that best fit your needs and goals during your initial consultation. It can be difficult to decide on your own what procedure or procedures might be the most beneficial, which is why your consultation with Dr. Elias is crucial. He can use his years of experience to help you decide on your treatment plan.
What's the difference between mentoplasty and genioplasty?
Mentoplasty is a surgery that builds fullness to your chin. Genioplasty, on the other hand, is a procedure to rebuild the chin bone. Depending on the state of your chin and your goals, you might require both surgeries or just one. A genioplasty, in addition to being a cosmetic procedure, may also be performed to improve medical concerns, like your dental bite. Dr. Elias can help you choose whether to get mentoplasty, genioplasty, or both.
